brand.LIVE at Canada Day at Canada Place
Thousands of people flaunting their
red and white colours flooded the streets around Canada place to celebrate
Canada’s birthday on July 1st. brand.LIVE is thrilled to have helped
put on Canada Day at Canada Place this year, which was a huge success as enthused
crowds took part in a full days worth of activities.
Between live music performances, art
shows, parades, and the spectacular fireworks, the crowd was captivated all day
long by the festivities. Starting at 10:00am and lasting until the evening,
there were 30 free live bands on five different stages that captured an
audience of 200,000 people throughout the day. Bands such as The Grapes of
Wrath, Pacifika, Maria in the Shower, and Chic Gamine put on entertaining shows
and were greeted by patriotic, cheering Canadians throughout the performances.
An incredible art exhibit featuring
over 100 original oil portraits of well-known Canadians was available for the
public to explore in the Convention Center. From Terry Fox, to Wayne Gretzky,
to John Candy, the room was filled with famous Canadians who have helped to
shape our country.
Later in the evening, thousands of
people gathered around to enjoy the annual Canada Day Parade, which started at
7pm. With over 60 multicultural community entries, the crowds celebrated the
true spirit of Canada. The parade lead the people at Canada Place into the
final event of the evening; the 5th annual firework show. This light
show extravaganza could be seen form Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, West
Vancouver, and North Vancouver. The fireworks were the perfect end to a great
day filled with Canadian celebrations.
A special thanks to Canada Place Corporation for allowing brand.LIVE to help organize this special day.
